Birdsfoot Trefoil

Birdsfoot trefoil is a lovely little plant.
It blooms in lawns most of the summer, staying green even in the near drought conditions of August.
This cluster of blossoms has someone hiding inside!
I don't think I have ever seen a grasshopper so tiny!!

Morning Glory

There's a patch of morning glories along the creek,
and the only thing they have to climb is the grass.
I love seeing the vines wind their way around the stalks of grass.

Blue False Indigo

Another plant from the gardens at the college,
blue false indigo is a native North American plant.
It is a small shrub, about three feet tall, probably herbaceous
(at least, I have not found any trunks or branches on it, just stems).
It is obviously a member of the pea family,
and I love the blue colour!
And the ladybugs!

Peonies!

It's my birthday, and I am celebrating with peonies.
The end of last week, we had more than 2 inches of rain, in 48 hours.
The gardens were well watered...
Yesterday morning was sunny,
but there was dew on the peonies.
And everything else, I suppose...
Is there anything better than dew on peonies?

Abstract

Nature Footstep is hosting Abstracts today,
and I didn't have anything,
but then spotted the bag of light bulbs, waiting to be recycled...

A Member of the Poppy Family

I found this plant blooming at the gardens at Algonquin College,
and it's a good thing I looked it up on Wikipedia - this is not the sign for this plant!!
So all I can tell you is that it is about 18 inches tall,
and a member of the poppy family, and gorgeous!!!

Mint, Backlit by the Sun

I had to stop, on my way to church yesterday, and capture the mint leaves. The sun was still low, and coming through the leaves!

Foamflower

This is a wildflower called foamflower,
only I found it at the garden at the college.
Their labels make things so much easier.
