Cigar Lighter

While I was in Woodstock, I rummaged among my father's treasures,
and found a cigar lighter.
It's a wooden box with this construction on top.
A gentleman would buy a cigar at the store, and light it before continuing on his way.
He would press this lever, and the barrel would move forward and cause a spark.
You can see the cap of the reservoir for naptha.
The lid of the box is hinged to allow access
to the inner workings.
I have no idea what the block is for,
but there must have been a battery at one time.
The spring helps move the barrel on top of the box.
He says that he and his friends would go into the store, and press the lever till the owner of the store chased them out,
and he has not seen one of these cigar lighters since 1931.

Sun Through Snow

I love it when the snow piles on fences or branches,
and then the sun shines through the layers.

Coyote Tracks

The coyote travelled along the edge of the snow covered pond
then climbed up the bank caused by the wind.

Water over the Dam

There are two dams in the park near my parents.
This time of year, water flows over both of them.

Bicycle Stand

While I was walking in the park in Woodstock,
I noticed the bike stands near the playground.
Don't you love the whimsy?

My bil used to pilot small planes,
but now his collection circles the Christmas tree.

Christmas Candy

What would Christmas be like
without candy canes
and chocolate balls?

Chairs

While I was visiting my mother,

I noticed a couple of chairs, and how they caught the light, dust and all.

Santa Claus

My sister does rug hooking,
but it is so much easier to find places for small projects,
so she made this little Santa for my mother.

Snowfall

On Friday, I was returning home bringing the snowstorm.
It was a mixture of rain and snow,
so I was happy to be a passenger.
Overnight, the temperature dropped and it was all snow.
