Today is International Rock Flipping Day.
You and your friends and family go for a walk, find a rock, flip it over, and document what you find underneath.
I haven't figured out how to link my blog entry, but there is a Flickr group here.
So I persuaded husband to go along as muscle, and the dogs as protection (you never know when a squirrel might attack), and went to look for some rocks.
Since we had an inch and a half of rain yesterday, most of the rocks I knew about were partially submerged.
On the way to the next lot, we found
a caterpillar crossing the path.
There was one rock that husband was willing to lift.
I spotted the sow beetle right off.
And the grass that was trying to lift the rock.
Then husband said "What is that?"
and I finally saw the toad, settled in for the winter.
Husband insisted on moving it before putting the rock back down,
so I got a photo of it in the grass, too.
Then husband went back to his computer, and the dogs and I went for our walk.
