One challenge I am encountering this spring,
is remembering what the various trees are.
Two weeks ago, the flowers on this shrub were buds,
but now that they are closer to blooming,
I am starting to think it is a red elder.

It's lovely against the beautiful sky!
I was sitting on the railing of my deck the other day and I, too, noticed buds on the purple lilac but not on the white. Thought the white might be faulty or something. Good to hear this is normal. Guess I can't blame the peep for this one.
PS. I'm a cat.
I think the green is normal for the white lilac. I love the elder...doesn't it look like broccoli at this point! I bet your yard is going to smell heavenly soon!
