Memorial

These silk flowers are attached to a tree
on a curve in the road at one entrance
to the park,
a memorial to someone's loved one.

In New Zealand, where a person had died in the vicinity, people leave flowers and a white cross. Generally they are allowed to leave them for 1 year. But some people leave them forever, and council workers don't want to remove them.

We had a British woman who died when her bicyle was "doored" by a car. Her friends placed a bicycle with flowers. Some idiot stole the bicycle. It wasn't taken by the council workers.

How sad. What a lovely tribute to their loved ones.
