Skywatch Friday

Last week, the moon was tangled in the branches of a birch tree.

Daffodils

What spring garden show
 would be complete without daffodils?
There are so many sorts to choose from -
 so many shades of yellow,
 even orange,
 single and double petals.

Jade Plant

Every year, I look at the jade plants, and every year I am amazed at the size of them.
Last year, I spoke with one of the professors, and he estimated their age at 25 to 30 years. This one is about as high above the pot as I am tall!

Watery Wednesday

This is my favourite photo from the koi pond at the flower show.
There were many mirrors, of all shapes and sizes, and translucent features, like this one, reflected in the water.

Water

There is a fountain in the pool on the other side of the steps from the koi pond, in the greenhouse at the college.

Tulips

I visited the flower show at the end of its run,
and a lot of the tulips were past their prime.
But that makes it easier to photograph the working parts of the blossoms,
and all that pollen.

Crocus

I have one lone crocus waiting to bloom, but it is going to stay huddled up for another couple of days, at least. The wind chill this morning was -15, but we went for a long walk anyway, since I could breathe, and do not work today.

Today's Flowers

The spring flower show at Algonquin College has been and gone, and I have lots of photos to share with you.
These are Martha Washington, or ivy leaved, geraniums.

Redwing and Cardinals

One of the redwing blackbirds was brave enough to let me get a couple of shots.
The cardinal was not so cooperative.

Clouds

The clouds yesterday were just amazing!
Or maybe it was just all that blue sky, after so many months of gray.

Skywatch Friday

If the robins are here, then it must be spring!

Watery Wednesday

It's spring now, so here are my tulips on Sunday morning, and on Monday morning.

Textures in Glass

I have walked past these windows hundreds of times, but never stopped to actually look at them.
They were made for the stone church, built in 1937, after fire destroyed the frame church in 1935.
Now they are protected from the elements, in a wall between the church and a hallway.
In all of these shots, we are looking into the church.

Maple Tree

The sun rising over the houses caught the branches of the maple tree at the end of the street,
 and the swelling buds.

Ice Crystals

While scraping the frost off the windows of the car, I was captivated by the ice crystals on the roof.
And on some of the shrubs...

Geese

I have seen and heard geese over the last few days, but this is the first that I have been able to capture.
