Better Than Gnomes...

I wonder what the neighbours think of these lawn ornaments? Life sized wolves, pump, fire hydrant, deer family, a couple of dogs...

I suppose they are quieter than live wolves...

Autumn Colour

Have you ever seen a spruce tree change colour in the fall? This one has Virginia creeper all through it, so it makes for an interesting display.

Maple lit by the early morning sun.

Every branch on this sumac was a different colour! it was so hard choosing which photo to show you!

I have no idea what sort of a tree this is, but there are a lot of them around. I especially liked the golden leaves which caught the sun, against the darker storm clouds.

Sunlight on Water

This is a different pond than usual, so I was exploring the light reflected from the water.

Watery Wednesday

Red leaves against the water,

mostly Virginia creeper in her autumn scarlet.

Frost

Along with all the lovely mist on the water, comes frost.

But if you wear sandals, and walk through the frosty grass, your toes complain.

A lot. I really wonder how the dogs can scamper through the snow in their bare feet!

Hibiscus

This flower kept all the dewdrops that had dried from the other blossoms.
This makes me think of the Spanish dancers, swirling their skirts.

Borage

The borage leaves are big and hairy, although the small ones can be chopped into salads. They taste a bit like cucumber.

This is the first summer I have persuaded the poppies to grow, and I am hoping they will reseed themselves, along with the borage.

Today's Flowers

The Jerusalem artichokes are blooming.

They get to be six or seven feet tall,

and they bloom early in the fall,

so they are doubly welcome, unless you have to mow around them.

Great Blue Heron

This heron let me get very close
before he flew away into the mist.

Sunrise Mist

The light and the mist this morning combined for some stunning images!

These are my favourites!!

Geese Coming In For a Landing

The farmer harvested his crop last month, but there was plenty left for the geese to glean.

Here their landing pattern takes them almost over us.

Foggy Morning

Even if it was foggy, the geese knew where the grainfield was, behind the trees. You can see three of them coming in for a landing.

The sun was barely over the horizon, making the light all golden.

Skywatch Friday

A single strand of spider silk

stretching between a couple of weeds

caught many windborne seeds,

which, in turn, caught the sunlight.
