Horse Chestnuts on the Ground

Every fall, the squirrels and I argue over who collects the horse chestnuts when they fall.

I love to have a handful in the pocket of my jacket.

No particular reason, just the colour and the texture.

The easiest way to break open the spiky pods is to step on the carefully, just enough to brwak the green, and not enough to break the actual nut.

Oh my goodness! I love the chestnuts also! If we lived near each other we would be meeting up at the Oak and chestnut trees! Don't you just love all the swirly colors on chestnuts? Every man I have ever talked to about them tells me he had neighborhood chestnut fights with the other boys. I guess they don't do that anymore...to dangerous...not that there are even any boys playing outdoors anymore.
