Ashton Village

I took these photos at a former church which is slowly being turned into something else. I simply love where they store the ladder when it is not being used...

The apples are getting ready. I refuse to think that it might be fall, though!

We had more rain yesterday, and you can see traces of it on the morning glories!

Grass

Last summer, I looked through the grass towards the sky...

Still Lifes

I am posting a selection of my still lifes.
I have no idea what the orange thing used to be, but this is what it looks like after a year and more at the bottom of my box of feathers and peony seed pods and such.
I would love your constructive criticism, as I am trying to take more artistic photos.
A friend gave me a couple of pieces of chipped crystal, so I smashed one of them.
The best present anyone has given me this week!!!
I want to try more captures, with a coloured background...
And a slightly tarnished silver heart nestled in some feathers.

Mississippi River

Last week, I got to Almonte, on the Mississippi River,
to capture some of the ice formations.

Grass and Sunlight

Last summer, when the grass was in bloom,
the morning sun limned everything with gold.

Tansy

I know it is a terribly invasive weed, but the flowers are so cheerful! Especially on a winter's day, with snow blowing outside!

Button Jar

The prompts for my Be Still class this week are white, round, and minimalist. I think my button jar, with the old shell buttons, meets two of those criteria.

Knapweed

Knapweed is a member of the same family as cornflowers. You can see it in the shapes of the petals and the ovary.
I only encountered it two summers ago.

Abstract

Placing the light bulbs between the camera and the sun increased the contrast, making them appear to be in black and white, although the first two are in full colour...

Brooch from 1945

My uncle brought this from Italy, where he was stationed late in WWII, for my Mom. I wonder if it can be fixed up...

Catch the Light

The sun had just cleared the horizon when I captured the light refracted in this glass ornament.

Iris

Back into the archives
to see some irises,
stately and proud.

Be Still Week One

I have started an on-line course,
called Be Still.
It is about centring yourself before picking up the camera
and capturing still life photos.
Being still and focusing is harder than it looks.
So are still lifes.
But these images are my favourite results of the week.
