Home Again

Just to let you know that I am home again,
but very tired.
Last week was crazy -
Do you have...
Did you call...
Do you want...
I had a couple of days alone with my Mom,
and I would ask her what she wanted to do,
and she would say nothing,
so we would sit in the living room with our books.
I noticed she was not turning a lot of pages.
One day I came into the bedroom, and she had the bed covered with papers.
I asked if she was planning a new quilt, and she laughed.
No, she was looking for the papers the accountant was going to need.
I told her not to worry -
he should know by now that she would not be ready right away.

Mom is on her own in the house now, but there are people in Woodstock to check up on her regularly...
And I have dogs to walk, and a husband to feed...

Thank you again for all your prayers and your love!!!

Away For a While

I am going to be away for an indefinite period of time.
My father passed away last night,
and I am going to be with my mother, and will not have access to a computer.
He passed in his sleep, peacefully, thank God.
I thank you in advance for your prayers and kind thoughts.

Lilacs

My lilacs are starting to bloom.
I love the way the sun comes through the blossoms.

Hackberry Leaves

The camera decided it needed the flash, when I was trying to capture the early morning sun on the hackberry leaves.
I rather like the effect.

Big Wind

We have been having heavy wind gusts
this afternoon.
The poor flowering crabapple in the front yard
has lost another couple of branches.
And the rest of it is not in very good health...

Raindrops

Ladysmantle always catches the raindrops,
but so do apple blossoms
and lilacs.
I especially love the lilacs,
which are just starting to bloom.

Asparagus

Today was the first day of farmer's market,
and doesn't the fresh asparagus look delicious!!!
Guess what the dogs and I had for dinner!!
Silly husband doesn't know what he is missing!!
The dogs get the bottoms of the stalks...

Serviceberry

The serviceberry, or shadbush,
is a small native tree,
about 40 feet tall.
The starry blossoms don't last long.
Last night's rain washed most of the petals to the ground
or the nose, as Annie demonstrates.

Daffodils

The daffodils in my garden
are blooming merrily.
I love the way the sunlight
plays with the petals,
and casts shadows.
So many images to capture...

Today's Flowers

I am going to have to label all the trees,
once they are in leaf and I can identify them.
That way, I will know what they are,
when they bloom next spring...

Magnolia Blossoms

We walk past a magnolia tree on our walks
and it is in bloom now.
One of the oldest flowering plants,
the petals are much thicker than most flowers.
